Lambeth Council Domiciliary Care & Community Support Services Consultation
The Council has started to ask people what domiciliary care and community support services they need. The current contracts for these services will be ending in about March 2013 and the Council wants to make sure that the new service is provided in a way that best suits the needs of service users and the families that provide care and support to them.
The Council wants to hear what people who use or may use these services think about the current service and what changes or improvements they would like to see. The Council will then develop their plans based on the feedback they receive.
The consultation includes a wide range of home care services that are provided across all groups of people—older people, people with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with learning disabilities and children with disabilities. This includes the service we provide through our Community Support Service.
The Council has recently sent out consultation documents to people who use these services and are therefore likely to be affected by any changes. Anybody receiving these services , including people who are supported by our Community Support Service, should have received them. (This will not include people who receive support under our Supporting People contract as this support is not regarded as ‘care’). It is important that as many people as possible give their views, ideas and suggestions. Our service users should be encouraged to also make their views known.
For anyone who has not received the documents, they can be obtained by:
* Calling Freephone 0800 013 1497
* Emailing acs-consultation@lambeth.gov.uk
* Visiting the Council’s website at www.lambethcouncil.gov.uk/homecareconsultation
The Council will also be arranging ‘focus’ groups which will include one for service users with learning disabilities and their carers. This meeting is being held on:
Wednesday 18th January 2012
From 2.00pm—3.30pm
At Lambeth Accord, 336 Brixton Road, London SW9 7AA
People who want to go do not need to book and can just turn up. The Council have asked that anyone with communication or access needs should let them know.
This is an important meeting and may be the best way that many of our service users can get their views made known.
The consultation ends on 31st January. The Council will then consider the responses it has received and finalise the specification for the services. The Council plans to start the retendering process towards the end of next year.
The Council’s plans will have a significant impact on our current contract and how we tender. We will keep you informed of developments as more information becomes available.
